August 5th we were at my in-laws (darla & kevin) just hangin out. We left there house around 10 & got to our house 3ish mins later. I got ready for bed & laid down. My back was seriously killing me so I asked weston for a back rub, about 5 mins later I felt really bad pain (well what I thought was a really bad pain at the time) so I told Weston I thought I had a contraction....then 2 mins later I definitely was having a contraction. After that they grew stronger & about 2 mins apart, we knew because of our handy contraction timer app on my phone (: So I "hopped" in the bath to ease the pain a bit, and called the hospital. They told me to wait for about a hour and if they continued to get stronger & closer to call them back. Another HOUR??? what? ...but I knew from my class the longer you can wait it out at home the better. So I waited an hour and called them back and they told us to come to the hospital. I was excited, nervous, but mostly distracted by the overwhelming amount of pain I was feeling. My mom got to our house right as we were heading out the door, so it was perfect timing! We got to the hospital around 2am, they checked me and I was 4 cm dilated. I walked around, sat on the ball, did everything/position I could remember to help with the pain and to speed up the process. The ball was definitely the best. Then around probably around 5 they checked me again & I was 7 cm dilated. Then they called the anesthesiologist and I was given the best thing in the entire world....an epidural!!! On the chart it showed my contractions were super crazy and I couldn't feel a thing! So nice. I even got to rest my eyes, couldn't fall asleep because I was too excited, but it was nice to relax my mind and not worry about all the pain. My mom, Weston, & Darla were in the room w/me and we all rested for about 4 hours until I was checked again & I was at a 10!!!! Show time!!! So everyone left except Weston and we waited for the doctor about 5-10mins. As soon as he got there it was pushing time, I pushed for about 30 mins and at.....
9:50am Paisley Rochelle Dunn was born!
She weighed 6 lbs 12 oz, and she was 19in long.
She was placed on my chest, all blueish/redish and slimey. I loved her. I couldn't contain my emotions and started bawling like a baby. She was so precious and straight from heaven! Weston and I just stared at her and couldn't believe we had a daughter! Then my mom came in to see her and I started bawling again....this repeated every time someone new came to see her for the first hour! ...I was an emotional wreck! (:
That night I didn't get much sleep, she kept gagging all night so it freaked me out! and I couldn't stop looking at her, my sweet baby girl...MY baby....MY BABY!!!! I had a baby. I was a mom. So crazy.
The next day we just chilled, tried nursing, stared at our new baby in amazement, and ate lots of egg salad sandwiches! ...well at least I did. I don't know why but those were the best tasting sandwiches I have ever had. Actually all the food at the hospital was amazing...I kinda was sad when it was time to go! I know that sounds weird. But all the nurses were very nice, I had help whenever I needed it, & the food was really good.
The next day we got everything together, bundled paisley up, and left the hospital. It felt really strange taking this baby out of the hospital, they were just letting us leave with her! We put her in the jeep and Weston drove very carefully all the way home (:
So thats Paisleys story. I'm so blessed to have her in my life and I can't imagine it any other way!
