I did my first 10k on June 8th. It was awesome. I was really nervous going into it because I did not feel ready at all and I'd never done a race by myself before. Before this race the farthest i had ever run, in my life, was 4 1/2 miles so I wasn't even sure I could do it. The first couple of miles were the toughest for me because I still had butterflies in my stomach and I hadn't got into a rhythm yet. Around mile 4 I felt kind of numb and just kept going. I felt myself not wanting people to pass me or I wanted to pass someone else so I would push myself to move faster. That kind of surprised me because my goal was to just finish the race. I guess I have a little competitive-ness in me(: Anyways I was trying to keep it around 11 minute miles ( i know pretty slow) but I ended up doing 10.45 minute miles. So that was cool. Now I want to keep doing more. I really want to get my time around 10 minute miles next time and then hopefully keep dropping every time. I honestly never thought I could run so far so I'm really happy that I made myself do it!
Weston has been doing a lot of races! He's done a few Crit races and one century ride. I don't know how he can ride for 100 miles...he's loco! I'm so proud of how hard he works and that he's not afraid to try new things. He trains while still trying to keep family and school all in balance. He does pretty good(:
Here's to keeping active! (:

Way to go!! A 10k is a fun distance, can't wait to see more races from you:)
You rock! Seriously.
And now Weston just needs to keep pushing D to get a bike so that he can find out how fun it is. Then they can go riding over the break, and we can go running/swimming!
